We run a patient Participation Group which meets every 3 - 4 months. We meet exchange information about changes to the practice or NHS policies, to gain insight into the patients perspective, to understand their needs and concerns and to gain feedback from our patients whether positive or negative.

If you are interested in joining our 'PPG' then please contact Vee Powell on 01952 293949.

Introduction

Brief introduction by Brenda who explained that the aim of the meetings was not a platform to complain but to enhance treatment.

PSA Tests Online

Mac outlined issues he had had with booking online. Vee explained this was nothing to do with primary care.

Dr Mishra explained we do not offer as PSA screening as it is not a conclusive test. He advised that patients can book in with a GP to discuss first.

Blood Tests rather than Cervical Screening

Vee advises that we are a long way off this being offered. This is currently done in the US but there are a lot of false leads and that cervical screening is “the best we have at the moment.” Another benefit was that it also tests for HPV.

Cervical Screening for Women 20 – 30

Vee advised that this starts for women from the age of 25 and explained that it was always carried out by a female at Hollinswood & Priorslee (either Joy or Nikki).

Flu Jabs

Advised that we were just starting and would offer the flu vaccination at the same time as the covid booster for those that were happy to do so. Covid booster is Pfzier.

Menopause Advice

Vee advised that we now have a Women’s Health Clinic twice a month which was being done by Dr Nikki Harrison. This has been very well accepted.

Well Being Therapies

Vee explained that we now have 2 Social Prescribers (from MIND) for non-GP non-clinical issues. They can help with life-style, anxiety, housing, benefits etc. Brenda asked if we publicise this and Vee advised that we inform patients of the service on our website.

Lloyds Pharmacy Online Ordering

Vee explained that this does not come under primary care.

Extended Access

Vee gave brief overview. Explained that we are run by PCN which comprises of 3 surgeries (other 2 are Wellington and Dawley). This service offers GP, nurses and HCA appointments outside of normal surgery hours. This is not an online service and you patients are not

guaranteed to get an appointment at their own surgery. Appointments are bookable 2 weeks in advance. This service is as a result of a government incentive.

Any Other Business

Brenda requested that we set the date for the next meeting and it was agreed it would be held on 10th January 2023 at 2pm, venue yet to be decided. It was also agreed it would be useful to have meetings every 3 months.
