We run a patient Participation Group which meets every 3 to 4 months. We meet exchange information about changes to the practice or NHS policies, to gain insight into the patients perspective, to understand their needs and concerns and to gain feedback from our patients whether positive or negative.
If you are interested in joining our 'PPG' then please contact Vee Powell on 01952 293949.

Minutes from Last Meeting
Website
Following on from last meeting Vee has looked at other examples of GP websites that are far more user friendly. Unfortunately, we are still under contract so unable to make any changes until this expires, which Vee believes is around 9 months.
PPG
No success yet in attracting more diverse members.
The group felt that f2f meetings were preferable to Teams meetings.
PCN
Vee has contacted both Dawley and Wellington regarding combined meetings but has had no response. Vee will contact Dawley again to see if they are interested, even it is only once a year.
CQC Inspection
No visit yet.
Role of PPG
Brenda explained that part of the role of the PPG was to help with improvements and would be happy for their opinion to be sought.
Brenda also asked that more data be brought to the next meeting and that it be explained to members. For example:
- Number of patients
- Types of Appointments
- DNA’s
Vee advised that this would be possible and would be presented in spreadsheet format.
Hollinswood & Priorslee
Brenda asked if members were happy with service received from surgery. All happy, although John Tape expressed disappointment when he had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment.
Vee advised that, if this happens again, to send a text through the surgery online request system on the website for an assessment for a same day slot.
Members not aware of service and asked for notices to be put up in both surgeries making people aware of this option.
Staff
Women’s Health Clinic
Unfortunately, Dr Harrison will not be returning following maternity leave, which means the practice is without a Women’s Health Specialist following Dr Quereshi’s recent departure. Vee advised currently no plans to replace.
Members not happy regarding this decision and would like practice to reconsider. Vee to discuss with Dr Mishra.
Brenda also asked for data on this.
Social Prescriber
Nikola Badura has recently left but she will be replaced via PCN.
Cancer Care Coordinator
Helen Troath-Patel has recently left. Vee explained that she would not be replaced as not many patients needed this service.
Other – Staff
Currently have Dr Azuani with us who is training.
Clinical Pharmacists
Vee explained that the Clinical Pharmacists can do medication reviews. Brenda was unaware.
The members felt it would be useful to display list of clinical staff so that patients are aware of services available at the surgery. Vee to arrange at both sites.
Hollinswood House
Favourable reports – offer services for blood tests and certain x-rays.
Vee explained that we try and keep nurses blood appointments for emergencies and the elderly, and that we were one of the few surgeries to still offer blood tests.
Pharmacy Services
Pharmacies now offer a far wider range of services that can free up GP/Nurse appointments. We are trialling Pharmacy First Service for Urine testing and contraception reviews.
Dispatches – Channel 4 – 24th June 9.00pm
Vee thought this may be of interest to members as it is about an undercover reporter at Shrewsbury A&E.
Any Other Business
It was proposed date of next meeting should be end of September.
Summary
Vee to contact Dawley Medical Practice again regarding joining PPG meeting.
List of Clinical Staff to be displayed at both surgeries.
Vee to speak to Rohit regarding Women’s Health Clinic.
Vee to sort data to bring to next meeting.
